Gojiran. Self. Defence. Forces.
Welcome to this factbook! The Gojiran Self-defence force includes multiple separate branches that defend and fight for the Nation of Gojira. These include the Gojiran Army, The Naval Defence force, Areal self defence force, Ground Self-Defence Force, Home Guard Self Defence Force, and the Anti-Kaiju Self Defence Force. They are all controlled by the Ministry of Defence, Its Minister, The Royal Monarch, The Chancellor, and the chief of national defence.
The GSDF was first founded a couple decades after the independence of Gojira, as the GSDF was founded on April 19th, 1364. It was originally called "The Gojiran Armed Forces". It was later re-named into the "Gojiran Self Defence Forces" after becoming a neutrality during the mid 1800s (Gojira's currently an Armed Neutrality). The Current military size of the nation is 5,100,000. The National March of the GSDF is the "Heisei March". In this factbook, we will be breaking down each of the branches in this factbook. There are over 6 different branches of the entire GSDF.

NAVY NEWS HEADLINES -
1. The 1st fleet of the Navy is sent to the Twin Islands in Ngisla, where the 5th fleet of the 5 Kingdoms of Britannia is as well. A Couple of mines have been laid and some ammunition ships have been sent to the Kingdoms of Britannia.
2. The Ministry of Defence has recently been making plans on increasing the Navy size and creating new technologies for The Royal Navy. G-force is currently making weapons and the best vehicles to be created in Gojira. It nation heading to the 2030s is a big step for the nation technology wise.
3. Recently The Gojiran Ministry of Defence has requested to have 20 guided missile destroyers from an abandoned shipyard in Fujiwara Tochi, Gojira also is doing foreign affairs with the Usonea Nation.
4. A Couple of ships from the 2nd fleet arrive in The Anddoran Commune, to defend the Island nation from threats.
5. The next generation class vessels have arrived, the year is now 2031 in Gojira. The Navy's plan for growth has begun.
History
The Gojiran Navy has a long history, from the times when the Usonea-nomads discovered Gojira on their many ships. To the Holy empire, all the way to now. It has had multiple conflicts and roles to deal with. Currently the Navy is called the Gojiran Self-defence force. It was re-named to that in 1952 for Neutrality reasons, however Gojira has stopped being neutral when conflicts would take place. As of now, Gojira is an "Armed Neutrality".
Early ages
During the early stages, ships weren't used for warfare. Instead they were used for exploration, which is what the Nsonea did. But over time as the nation formed, ships were used for defence and warfare. The Navy mostly consisted of Outrigger and Double canoes, all coming in many shapes and sizes. These would be the type of ships the Sea nomads from Northern Usonea would use, there are also many other types of ships of the Early ages of the navy that Gojira would use. The Arkolinks would use galleys and longships during invasions, there were of course some famous ships. Like the Famous Nsonea Ocean Fish ship, or the Nemesis galley ship.

During the 'Imperial Era' was when Gojira was a great empire, a federation of multiple Islands in Verusa. They used Galleass ships, Carracks, and Carvel ships. The great Opion Empire was founded on August 1st, 850. Lasting 476 years until December 3st, 1339. Causing the first civil war, which would last for 17 years.

Modern times
In the modern times, Gojira's strength is growing. As Technology and Money is booming in the Flourishing Era of Gojira (which started in 1981). Currently Gojira has 162 ships in the 2 main fleets and 70 in the Oddball/Reserve fleet. More ships are currently being made, with new technology created by G-force the defend Gojira and its allies. The Nation also has plans to buy certain ships from other nations, like Fujiwara Tochi. They have recently equipped 20 Guided Missile destroyers.
In the Modern Era some famous ships are planned to retire and be put to scrap or the Oddball fleet, while many new designs for new classes are being planned in the works. By 2050, The Navy will have around 230 ships (predicted). Ready to fight for The Nation, as The Navy is the most focused on by the Ministry of defence. This is of course because, The Nation is an Archipelago of Islands. Who knows what will happen in the future, But Gojira does have a lot of plans for it.

Future
The GSDF and especially the GMSDF has large plans for the future, mainly goals that are planned to be done by the 2050s. A goal to have by the 2050s is for the Gojiran navy to have around 230 ships, and 3 operating fleets. The Third fleet is now planned to be stationed at the Gojiran occupied area of Kurzakstan, however some parts of the first fleet is stationed there. The ground work of the 3rd fleet is being prepared there.

Other plans are building more Aircraft carriers, the GMSDF has 4 carriers in total as of 2032. The Gojiran Navy plans to have around 8 or 10 different carriers by the 2040s. Early new super carrier concepts have also been drawn up, possibly the first nuclear powered Aircraft carriers of the GMSDF. They take inspiration from the Rexania Helicopter carriers. Besides the future nuclear supercarrier, which will be one of the most expensive things built by the GMSDF, an interesting hybrid ship will also soon emerge. A new "Aircraft Cruiser" is also planned to be in service by the mid-late 2040s.
The GMSDF also has future plans for re-establishing it's fleet of minelayer and minesweeper ships. These ships haven't been around since the 1980s, with the last few being decommissioned 1989. These Modern Minelayers and Minesweepers are essential to the protection of the Gojiran islands (because we're a bunch of archipelago, and bringing them back adds an additional layer to the extreme protections for the GMSDF). Around 20 minesweepers and 10 minelayers are planned by 2046.
An Additional thing besides the Cruiser Carriers, are the early developments of unmanned vessels. Robot naval ships and drones have already been made in the Gojiran navy, they're around the size of sail ships or patrol boats/the Gojiran fast attack craft. Many drone boats have been launched, having either solar power or nuclear power. A future plane for these ships is a "Drone Carrier". It will be in-between the size of our Modern battleships and our Aircraft Carriers. It is planned to carry 600 small drones and 14 large drones.
Arsenal ships are another future concept, a warship that can give as much firepower as our Modern Battleships if they cannot come in a certain situation. These have many launch systems, and are planned to have multiple emergency escape routes and Anti-Air defence systems. They're planned to enter service by the mid 2040s - early 2050s. Perhaps even earlier.

Capabilities
So how much personnel does the GMSDF have? The Nation of Gojira has an official strength of 50,100 personnel, but currently numbers around 50,900 active personnel.
Due to the Flourishing era, (where money boomed, as technology got more advanced, and the population grew) starting from the 80s, it has caused the nation of Gojira to go from 99.6 million people to 120 million people in a span of 40 years. With the GMSDF's G-force company making the best technology for the country, the GMSDF is responsible for protecting all of Gojira. Since the Nation is an archipelago of Islands, the Ministry of Defence mostly focused on Naval power for Gojira.
The Nation also has lots of natural resources, such as oil, food, and raw material. With the technology advancing Gojira could use more fossil fuels, oil deposits, and nuclear power. The Navy is an important aspect of the Gojiran defence Policy. The GMSDF is known for its anti submarine warfare, minesweeping capabilities, defence planners believe the most effective approach to combating hostile submarines entails mobilizing all available weapons, including surface combatants, submarines, patrol planes, and helicopters. The Country has over 23 listening stations across the nation equipped with multiple ELINT's (Electronic intelligence) which gathers data from the use of electronic sensors. The Nation also has a marine surveillance warning system, in case any nation threatens or attacks Gojira.
The Gojiran Air force also has a role in the defence, providing air cover at sea. Though the Navy has its one fighter planes on Its Aircraft carriers and aerial technology as well. The Gojiran fleet is equipped with anti-aircraft warfare protection. Its Frigates, Corvettes, and destroyers are equipped with the Raijin combat system, which has Anti aircraft and Anti Missile warfare.

Protecting the Ngislan Islands
Recently and for the past month, The Gojiran Navy and The Royal Navy of the 5 Kingdoms of Britannia has been protecting multiple Islands in Ngisla. The main ones Are the Twin Islands and Jayoo. This is because of the Recent Yemet-5K conflict, which currently has had a ceasefire. The British have been around the Islands to be their to protect Gojira and so Gojira's Oil deposits don't get taken. The 5th Fleet of the Kingdoms and 1st fleet of the GMSDF have been there ever since, until the war is finished.
Sending Ammunition to 5K
This also had to do with the Conflict in Usonea, as an Ammunition ships from the Oddball fleet are starting to be used to transport ammunition to the Kingdoms. Like Artillery and shells, observers were also sent their.
Doing naval Exercises with United Republic of Birkaal
Far away from the tense situation and tyranny that took place in Al-Mikhah, was the deep and vast oceans of the Cascade ocean. The Gojiran navy began doing multiple naval drills and exercises with its close and cultural ally, Birkaal. Birkaal and Gojira had similar culture, languages, religion, and history. Both were a part of an empire known as the Ophion Empire, which ruled most of the northern areas of Verusa. They fought together, fought each other, and now are working together again with the increasing political tensions in the Verusan continent. The first and major fleet, known as “His Majesty’s fleet” would have parts of its strike forces meet and do joint operations with the Birkaal Naval forces. The Birkaal navy would welcome the King of Gojira as the two nations arrived at sea for naval exercises. However, for the second fleet, they were stationed at the Emerpid Islands. Meanwhile for the 3rd fleet (the reserve fleet), they would be stationed a couple hundred miles away from San Rahico.
Military exercises
The GMSDF has had many if not most of its military exercises with the 5 Kingdoms of Britannia. Frequently carrying out joint exercises between each navy, Navy officials of the GMSDF have said that "Our Navy has a close relationship with the Royal Navy of Britannia than any in the world." Other nations Gojira does have exercises are the Hanasina (now Satreburg) navy and the Divided Free Land navy.

Ships and Submarines
As of 2032, The Gojiran Navy has over 162 ships (minus the Oddball fleet/Reserve fleet) and 2 main fleets. Each ship has the GSS acronym before its name, which is GRS (Gojiran Royal Ship). originally being GDS (Gojiran Defence Ship). Gojira has over 11 submarines, with more being planned in the future. The main 2 classes of nuclear submarines are the Atragon class and the recent Sentinel class submarines. So where are the fleets located? Currently most of the 1st fleet, nicknamed "His Majesty's Fleet" is in The Twin Islands, as the second fleet is mostly in the Cascade ocean area of Verusa. The "Oddball" fleet is in the southern-most tip of Kujira atomica, in the far areas of Timog (Ti-mog) city. The Ministry of Defence plans to grow the Navy, in size but also in quality. The GMSDF plans to increase the size of the 2 fleets, and possibly have a 3rd fleet for the GMSDF.
The GMSDF is well known for it's anti-submarine warfare capabilities, using depth charges, ELINT'S (for detecting said intruders or aggressors), and Torpedo's when facing against enemy torpedo's. ASW armament are also used for this. Along with the GMSDF's sheer anti-submarine capabilities, it also has SLBMS and other types of missiles that it can deploy. Nuclear guided cruisers, or submarines, are armed to the teeth with missiles and other nuclear weapons. Along with that, multiple different guns are mounted on the variety of Gojiran naval ships. These can range from the San-Homz 76/62 guns, to the Modern battleship guns of the GMSDF.

The Phalanax CIWS 2 is a manufactured weapon used to defend GMSDF ships from enemy ships, missiles, aircraft, or small boats. It is a powerful automated gun based close weapons system. |
- Mk-41 Vertical Launching System (VLS)
This is a common missile launcher on more of the newer Gojiran naval ships. It is a missile launcher that launches several types of missiles, and has over 32 different cells that store them. |
- MK-18 Launching system (LS)
The missile launcher is normally nicknamed "The Matchbox" launcher by sailors. This movable launch system is made to launch anti submarine and anti-air missiles. It can launch multiple missiles at a time, and can reload multiple times. |
- MK-143 launcher
An anti-air missile launch system that is on the nuclear cruisers and guided missile battleships of the Gojiran Navy. It launches surface to air, cruise guided, harpoon anti ship missiles, etc. |
Aircrafts
For most of history, the GASDF (Gojiran Air Self Defence Force) has had somewhat of a role when working with the GMSDF, providing air cover at sea. This role of defending the Gojiran isles and other nations is JASDF's primary mission of air defence of the home islands. Extended patrols over coastal claims, areas Gojiran owns, and many more are beyond the JASDF's current capabilities. In these areas, where the GASDF can't get involved, some things need to be done in the sky for the GMSDF.
When operations or missions require support from the skies, the aircraft of the two GMSDF fleets come to aid. This specialist aerial wing flies some of the world’s most up to date, tough, and advanced aircraft in the most testing of environments. Here is the list of air craft used in the GMSDF.

- LKA Harrier I The first of the VTOL/STOL fighter jets ever produced by Gojira, the first Harrier I "Jump Jet" would be first produced in the late 70s and early 1980s. This jet would be designed with a single engine, without the need of a runway (hence the nickname "The Jump Jet"). These jets would mostly be used on light carriers or helicopter carriers, being a fighter bomber jet. |
- LKA Harrier II The second addition of the LKA Harrier family, which is also still being used to this day. It also has the VTOL ability. It started development, and was produced between the 1990s-2010s. This jet has a couple differences, with more up to date technology. The Harrier II now has roles for ground attack missions, with it being a greatly modified and upgraded version of the Harrier I. It has a lighter weight (due to changes with it's fuel sullage), as well as increased payload and range when in combat. |
- LKA Harrier III The third and most recent addition to the LKA Harrier family. The LKA Harrier III is the most recently produced, and the most advanced VTOL jet of the GMSDF. It was only recently in development during the late 2010s, with it being produced between the 2020s-2030s. It is still currently being produced, and is still in service today. This 5th generation fighter would have the roles of the previous harriers, but would also be Gojira's 5th Generation stealth fighter jet. |

Recruitment and Training

How do you join the GMSDF? A citizen of Gojira must complete online registration and application, and fill out the online registration to join the GMSDF. After registration and application, you have to take the GMSDF recruitment test. Then you take the Self Defence Force Career Office Interview, the normal stuff, and then you have to take multiple medical tests. The GMSDF takes medical tests and fitness tests to see if you're fit and able to join the Gojiran navy.
With all of that, you're now a part of the GMSDF. GMSDF recruits receive three months of basic training followed by courses in patrol, gunnery, minesweeping, convoy operations, and maritime transportation. Flight students, all upper-secondary school graduates, enter a two-year course. Officer candidate schools offer six-month courses to qualified enlisted personnel and those who have completed flight school.
Graduates of four or five-year universities, the four-year National Defines Academy, and particularly outstanding enlisted personnel undergo a one-year officer course at the Officer Candidate School at Los Baguinda, which used to be named the former Imperial Naval Academy and also the former area of Ophion naval training. The JMSDF operates a staff college in Kujira Atomica for senior officers.

The large volume of coastal commercial fishing and maritime traffic (For example the Kaiju line oceanliners, cargo ships, cruise ships, etc) around Gojira limits in-service sea training, especially in the relatively shallow waters required for mine laying, minesweeping, and submarine rescue practice. Training days are scheduled around slack fishing seasons in winter and summer providing about ten days during the year.
The GMSDF maintains two oceangoing training ships and conducted annual long-distance on-the-job training for graduates of the one-year officer candidate school.

The Naval Special Forces

One of the many branches of the Gojiran Special Forces (GSF) is under both the GSF and the GMSDF. This special forces branch is called "The Gojiran Special Boat Service". The Special Boat Service only recentlly became a thing in the Gojiran Seæf Defence Force, being created during the mid months of the year and half long Great Verusan War. It did multiple operations in the Kurzak Gulf, Kurzak Peninsula, and did many things during the Parthia campaign.
Since its formation at the later months of the Kurzak Re-Unification war, the Gojiran Special Boat Service has been the elite maritime counter-terrorism unit of the Royal Navy. Made up of small, highly trained teams, it specialises in daring undercover raids that exploit the element of surprise.

Most of the operations carried out by the SBS are highly classified, and will remain that way for a long time. Consequently, little is known about the individuals who make up the unit of the GSBS (Gojiran Special Boat Service). It's almost like their invisible, their identity doesn't exist. Most of them are drawn from the Gojiran Marines Commandos, and all show exceptional physical and mental aptitude. In short, they’re the best of the best in the navy, and this special force branch is a new part of the many older branches of the Special Forces.
Equipment of the Gojiran Special Boat Service include the Mk8 Mod 1 SDVs crewed submersible and Mk11 SWCS SDVs submersible for underwater/submerged operations. These crewed submersibles can be housed or in nuclear submarines such as the Atragon Submarines and the Sentinel Submarines. They can be housed in areas such as the dry deck shelter on either of these nuclear submarine classes.
For surface combatant operations, the Special Boat Service uses things such as Fast floating/Interceptor Craft that can reach up to 58 knots. Folding Canoes, Rigid Raiders, Tiamond Searider Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), and Smaug LAR-V rebreathers.

The Gojiran Marines

The Gojiran Marines, formally known as the "Gojiran Special Naval Landing Force" before being renamed to the GSMDF (Gojiran Special Marine Defence Force). They've been around for decades. They were founded in 1899, a couple decades after the GSDF's founding in 1875. They're the first to understand. The first to adapt and respond. The first to overcome.

Fully integrated with the GMSDF amphibious ships, assault ships, fast attack craft, and other things form the GMSDF. The Gojiran Marines can be deployed across Verusa and the overseas territories without host nation support and projected stealthily from the sea to conduct operations on land. The Gojiran Marines are capable of combatting hostile forces, training partner troops and deploying on peacekeeping operations.
Moving rapidly to outmanoeuvre enemies and get Royal Marine troops to some of the toughest environments on the planet, our armoured vehicles can ‘swim’, land ashore and cross obstacles like rivers and lakes. The Gojiran Marines do many operations alongside the Gojiran Special Boat Service. Both fought in multiple wars, including the recent Great Verusan War.
