how would one theoretically check how inflated their currency is?
or how much it is worth in comparison to USD/Pound sterling?

Well, there's never been any official idea of inflation. Really, the only 'value' of the currency is based on dividing the economic output of countries between each-other to see whose currency is worth more to the other.

OOC: Not impossible, just nearly impossible. It is perfectly possible to strip-mine the entire planet, slowly removing layer after layer of rock and ocean to get down 100 km. It would just take thousands of years, and require complete international cooperation on something stupid (which is going to be the nearly impossible part). Theoretically the mass could be removed via mass drivers. BUT! It is theoretically possible.
