The Fiefdom of Cumbreda is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads, sprawling nuclear power plants, and ritual sacrifices. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 1.626 billion Cumbredans are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The large, corrupt, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Education, and Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 81.4%.

The frighteningly efficient Cumbredan economy, worth 256 trillion dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Information Technology, and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 157,537 dollars, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 771,163 per year while the poor average 18,462, a ratio of 41.8 to 1.

Foreign spirits are hard to find due to an abundance of "Cletus and Jim Bob's Homemade Cumbredan Moonshine", government contracted tax collectors often 'accidentally' over-charge citizens and skim the surplus, agricultural employees work for peanuts, and one year's corporation tax from three international megacorporations has funded one dozen shiny black pencils for Leader's office. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Cumbreda's national animal is the Frostmoth, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Cumbreda is ranked 15,548th in the world and 24th in The UMNS for Highest Average Tax Rates, with 81.43 Effective Tax Rate.
