The Colony of DEMA33 is a titanic, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service and irreverence towards religion. The democratic population of 13.37 billion DEMA33ians hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Defense. The average income tax rate is 18.3%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient DEMA33ian economy, worth 491 trillion Citas a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Trout Farming industry, with significant contributions from Furniture Restoration, Retail, and Pizza Delivery. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 36,719 Citas, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.1 times as much as the poorest.

Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. DEMA33's national animal is the Vippertooth Dragon.

DEMA33 is ranked 76,468^th in the world and 1^st in Democratic Assembly for Nicest Citizens, with 15.51 average smiles per day.
