The Republic of Haesung is a colossal, efficient nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape, compulsory military service, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-working, democratic population of 3.011 billion Haesungians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Welfare, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.5%.

The very strong Haesungian economy, worth 203 trillion Won a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry, with major contributions from Furniture Restoration, Gambling, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 67,545 Won, with the richest citizens earning 9.4 times as much as the poorest.

Crime is moderate, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Haesung's national animal is the falcon, which can occasionally be seen dodging aircraft in the nation's cities.

Haesung is ranked 140,050^th in the world and 13^th in Selene for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 1,060.55 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
