In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Public Transport, Welfare, and Environment. The average income tax rate is 45.0%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but underdeveloped Indroan economy, worth 413 trillion Dimes a year, is quite specialized and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Cheese Exports, and Soda Sales. Black market activity is frequent. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 18,208 Dimes, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Elections have been outlawed, surveillance cameras are banned, the nation's official head of religious affairs is an atheist, and citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes. Crime is relatively low, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Indro's national animal is the camel.
