The Crown and Trident of Lycos is a titanic, socially progressive nation, ruled by Queen Cari Bobson Arrna with an iron fist, and renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, barren, inhospitable landscape, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, devout population of 15.141 billion Lycans are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The relatively small, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mt Lycos. The average income tax rate is 12.0%.

The very strong Lycan economy, worth 923 trillion lycs a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Pizza Delivery industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Soda Sales, and Beef-Based Agriculture. Average income is 60,967 lycs, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.3 times as much as the poorest.

Genetic researchers have been expelled, foreign casinos have trouble paying fans who bet on the triumph of the Mt Lycos Wolves against long odds, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, and good-looking soldier boys have celebrity status amongst the nation's homosexuals. Crime is moderate. Lycos's national animal is the wolf, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is couping.

Lycos is ranked 165,903^rd in the world and 3^rd in Niamark for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring 636.71 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
