The Italianate of Sandrogna is a mammoth, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Giuseppe Marcos Garibaldi with an iron fist, and notable for its compulsory military service, suspicion of poets, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8.241 billion Sandrognans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Baston. The average income tax rate is 36.0%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The strong Sandrognan economy, worth 366 trillion Drogs a year, is quite specialized and led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Uranium Mining, and Beef-Based Agriculture. Average income is 44,475 Drogs, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.2 times as much as the poorest.

Biological warfare is used to solve small disagreements, the flesh-eating lost souls that wander at night serve as a major tourist attraction (Sandrogna has found 1 easter egg), most Sandrognan video games are banned in other countries, and holiday gift-giving is often peppered with songs of praise to morally-questionable televangelists. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sandrogna's national animal is the Mountain Goat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Carinthian Catholicism.

Sandrogna is ranked 223,004^th in the world and 65^th in Tarkin for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring -0.89 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
