The Independent Space Colony of Side 3 is a titanic, orderly nation, ruled by Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi with an iron fist, and remarkable for its infamous sell-swords, otherworldly petting zoo, and conspicuous electricity pylons. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 17.522 billion Zeons are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government is effectively ruled by the Department of Defense, with Law & Order also on the agenda, while International Aid and Welfare aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zum City. The income tax rate is 100%.

The frighteningly efficient Zeonic economy, worth an astonishing 11,586 trillion Zeon credits a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is a breathtaking 661,271 Zeon credits, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.2 times as much as the poorest.

90% of active duty S3AF personnel have been laid off and replaced by robot kill-drones, unwary hikers climbing the bluffs of Mount Zum City make great practice for foreign snipers, colonial subjects have Zeonic culture shoved down their throats, and bombs make good ploughs. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Side 3's national animal is the eagle, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Side 3 is ranked 330,633rd in the world and 44th in The Local Cluster for Safest, scoring 3.05 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
