The Democratic Republic of Soxan is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Onder Kelkia with a fair hand, and remarkable for its state-planned economy, irreverence towards religion, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic population of 36.427 billion Soxanians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Inginase. The average income tax rate is 79.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The enormous but inefficient Soxanian economy, worth a remarkable 1,688 trillion Pound Sterlings a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Trout Farming, and Basket Weaving. Average income is 46,364 Pound Sterlings, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

There's a bright dawn ahead for Soxan, the pursuit of wanted criminals ends at the entrance of the pay'n'spray garage as police refuse to enter any private property, fake designer clothes are shredded and burnt while many in the world don't have a shirt on their back, and foreign governments are threatened if they so much as mention the word "election". Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Soxan's national animal is the Goose, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Soxan is ranked 28,961st in the world and 1st in Munster for Safest, scoring 109.43 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
