The Republic of The Malachite is a mammoth, cultured nation, notable for its public floggings, frequent executions, and anti-smoking policies. The compassionate, cynical population of 7.951 billion Malachiteans are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large government prioritizes Defense, although Law & Order, Administration, and Healthcare are also considered important, while International Aid is ignored. The average income tax rate is 43.6%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Malachitean economy, worth 364 trillion spintrias a year, is quite specialized and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Trout Farming, Soda Sales, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 45,735 spintrias, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.5 times as much as the poorest.

Families returning from international vacations are unable to get their children back into the country, street crime is on the rise as police officers spend most of their time in prisons, elementary school students are required to master Bach's Chaconne in D before graduation, and policemen regularly conduct midnight raids on closed donut shops to 'collect evidence'. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Malachite's national animal is the moth, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

The Malachite is ranked 94,899^th in the world and 17^th in The Mansus for Most Extensive Public Healthcare, scoring 1,939.2 on the Theresa-Nightingale Rating.
