The Corporate Republic of The New Chinese States is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Chairman Sheng-Ji Yang with an iron fist, and notable for its museums and concert halls, sprawling nuclear power plants, and ubiquitous missile silos. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 33.804 billion Chinese are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The minute, corrupt, well-organized government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Defense, Industry, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Shanghai. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Chinese economy, worth an astonishing 19,044 trillion New Chinese Yuan a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Retail, and Uranium Mining. Average income is a breathtaking 563,390 New Chinese Yuan, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 3,569,207 per year while the poor average 36,998, a ratio of 96.5 to 1.

The The New Chinese States Enquirer offers weekly cash prizes for 'most blasphemous song, story, or cartoon', a girl's success in life is often linked to her performance in beauty pageants, citizens are less concerned with policy and more concerned with whether politicians "call 'em like they see 'em", and prenuptial contracts have replaced diamond rings in marriage proposals. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. The New Chinese States's national animal is the panda bear, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Buddhism.

The New Chinese States is ranked 291,274th in the world and 169th in The Glorious Nations of Iwaku for Safest, scoring 2.29 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
