The People's Republic of Tropical Authority is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Big Brother with an iron fist, and notable for its closed borders, free-roaming dinosaurs, and ban on automobiles. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 1.906 billion Tropic Proles are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Fort Misery. The average income tax rate is 76.3%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but underdeveloped Tropical Authorityian economy, worth 93.6 trillion Sand Dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized black market in Trout Farming, Beef-Based Agriculture, Arms Manufacturing, and Tourism. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 49,133 Sand Dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.1 times as much as the poorest.

Modern Tropical Authorityian art is so hot right now, panicking criminals no longer flush contraband down the toilet, shoppers have literally had their hands full since plastic bags were banned, and cheese lovers have a case of the bleus. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tropical Authority's national animal is the Malnurished Seagull, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Floridaism.

Tropical Authority is ranked 49,627th in the world and 6th in Florida for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 1,962.39 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
