The People's Republic of Verasae is a very large, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service, ubiquitous missile silos, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 209 million Veris are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 11.0%.

The thriving Verian economy, worth 14.4 trillion Swas a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, with significant contributions from Furniture Restoration, Automobile Manufacturing, and Pizza Delivery. Average income is 68,782 Swas, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 333,443 per year while the poor average 8,212, a ratio of 40.6 to 1.

Economists have been named Invertebrates of the Year, frat-house partying has become the national pastime, fashion magazine covers finally display realistic body images following photo-manipulation becoming illegal, and residents are readily ratting out rats in restaurants. Crime, especially youth-related, is well under control. Verasae's national animal is the Green Dragon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Verasae is ranked 87,405^th in the world and 1^st in Seraphim Palace for Most Developed, scoring 65.1 on the Human Development Index.
