Chan Island vote for me so I don't feel too lonely even the joke candidates have one.
9/11 has me thinking of the divisions in the world that seem to be so much more visible and prevalent these days. I was born in '78, and in the 80s and 90s it seemed like the world was progressing. It seemed like modern world history had emerged from the horrors of WW2, and gradually the world was edging towards unity and panhumanity. A few stutters, but broadly it felt hopeful: diversity and identity still, but coexistence and self-determination, and a sense of collective responsibility for peace. The main enemy seemed to be the selfishness of capitalism, and even that seemed to be maturing, with a general shift in the young towards environmentalism, nurture and kindness.
But since 9/11 its felt painful and fractured, with every nation cutting off foreign aid, closing itself to immigration, drawing lines between us and them. The slow march towards a better world seems to have reversed, and we're getting worse as a race. Extinction seems inevitable.
Anyway, I was on my writer's site, and we started talking about Saudade, and poems about Saudade, with our writerly conceit being exactly 100 words. I've not written a poem in a while, disillusioned as I was by Claude and other AIs doing it better. I decided to go again anyway, as Claude has no soul, and so I think my worse poems mean more than its LLM jigsaw building. I hope this has an effect.

I apologise for my breach of campaigning rules. Chan should definitely not vote for me as forest keeper following this, and if he did I fear he would be confirming himself as the worst of us...a liberal democrat, for it is the sort of thing they'd do. I recognise my breach, and shall drink strongbow dark fruits right now to atone for my sins.
Apart from my completely fictional forest keeper bid,
I am happy to see there was interest from a good number of Forest for a regional quiz league. I have received several other statements of interest and will try and sort it up in the coming months.
I feel, too, that we have come to a time in which hope is harder and harder to keep… at least that type of hope in the Future that’s been built around the idea of Progress. But the things that might save us from extinction are very old things: caring for others, a sacramental respect for the Earth and its creatures as Creation (and not as a stack of resources at our disposal, or as mere objects of scientific inquiry), a sense of limits which shouldn’t be crossed… For me, at least (and at this point in my life), hope seems to have less to do with expecting History to make sense again, than with assuming our own place of stewardship, small as it may be. As the saying often attributed to Luther goes, “even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree”.
Rejoiceful news in The Grass Cult: for the first time ever, Eco-Friendliness has surpassed 10,000 units! At time of writing, it sits at 10,150, with a coincidentally circular rank of 3,141st. A few other attributes, like Compassion, Niceness, Cheerfulness, and Lifespan are also at an all-time high.
What might not be so high is colour variety, with the bodies of Grasslings combined with our high (on a global scale) wilderness density.

After having secured the majority of the validly-cast votes, The Mysterious Black Hole of Roless has been elected and installed as our next Forest Keeper, and as the Head of Government for the Twenty-First Administration of Forest! Congratulations, Roless!!
I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in this election: everyone who voted, who volunteered to serve as an Election Officer, who ran for Forest Keeper, who engaged with the discussions during Campaign Week, and last but not least, to 
Anxious And Kevin, for being our Election Discussion Facilitator. As in real life, democracy is only as strong as the level of engagement, and in that regard, Forest is incredibly strong.
Please join me in congratulating Roless on their election to the Head of Government as Forest Keeper! Keep a lookout for upcoming announcements of Regional Officerships in the coming days. A new chapter begins!
Also, in order to provide regional data for posterity, and to highlight the centrality of the participation of each citizen in the democratic process, I have created a dispatch which shows the Roster of Eligible Voters for each of the elections I have coordinated as either Executive World Assembly Delegate or as Governor. The dispatch enumerates those elections, provides each’s Roster of Eligible Voters, and uses a system of checkmarks to indicate validly cast votes. Candidates and results are purposefully not indicated, as the purpose of the dispatch is to emphasize civic engagement in itself, not the results of that engagement insofar as the Government is concerned.
Forest Keeper Elections: Voter Records
The Rosters of Eligible Voters with active voters indicated, from March 2021 to the present.
~ In the interest of preserving the Rosters of Eligible Voters for those who have voted in the elections for Forest Keeper, I have used my records, RMB posts, and polling record to enumerate the Roster of Eligible Voters for the Biannual Forest Keeper elections since March 2021. I have also indicated how many valid votes were cast in each election (and the runoff election, where applicable).
~ This dispatch covers the regional elections which I have coordinated in my capacity as Executive World Assembly Delegate (i.e. March 2021 through May 2023), and then as Governor (i.e. May 2023 to the present). Neither the candidates nor the results are recorded here, since that information is available in multiple locations, and because the main purpose of this dispatch is to serve as a record of civic participation and of regional fidelity to the democratic process.
~ Note that there are overlapping systems of accounting for the elections. Elections are listed from one through twelve, which correspond to the ones which I have coordinated. The "official" name of the election is given next (e.g. March 2021, September 2026), followed by the Administration which the election was held in order to create. There has been a grand total of twenty-one governments formed under the current constitutional system, beginning with the Forest Keepership of Ransium in January 2016 (i.e. the 1st Administration), up to the current Forest Keepership of Roless in September 2026 (i.e. the 21st Administration). While this dispatch does not include voter information for the first nine elections, I would be happy to either link to it or to directly include it here, should someone take that project on for themselves.

Congrats Roless, well deserved, and it was a delight coordinating the RMB for a week. Maybe this will inspire me to get back into government, with the way my postgraduate job search is going at the moment, I'm still looking at a lot of free time in my near future...
As someone who generally adores pomegranates how comes I’ve never thought of a candy? ;-; sounds delicious.
I love pomegranates, their wine, their juice, and once I’ve tied a combination of pomegranate x pineapple juices with a slice of orange at a random place in Qatar and it blew my mind as of how delicious and balanced it felt. I’ve tried to repeat it at home but I don’t know their secret proportions so lots of trials left to try yet.

I will be announcing my appointments in the coming days, so please telegram me if you’d be willing to give being in government a go. It is my intention that most of the roles listed in my campaign dispatch should not be too overwheming, and I and others in the government will be available to assist you if you need it.
Portugal congratulates Roless on their victory in the Forest Keeper election. We hope that our regions will continue to collaborate in the coming months on various RP initiatives, activities, and events.

They're from the company Kokos. A friend of mine got them while in Greece; I'm not sure where you're at, but they could be hard to find. Somehow, I've never had an actual pomegranate before, so now I really want to try one. Problem is they're like six dollars apiece. One day I'll spoil myself perhaps. Let me know if you figure out the ideal juice ratio! That does sound delicious!
