It’s also attacking Pacific islands, including the Dutch East Indies, which have plenty of oil. Are you saying that the Japanese will lose to the Dutch, already defeated by Germany? Plus, Japan won’t necessarily stalemate in China, because of the lack of American and Soviet help.
The USSR was different from the Russian Empire. Please know that there was a Soviet-Japanese Border War, which was an undeclared border conflict fought between the Soviet Union and Japan in Northeast Asia from 1932 to 1939. Of course it is just a possibility, the oil embargo will make Japan immobile after 3 years of war with China if China still survived. Furthermore, attacking Indonesia is a farther place and oil in Indonesia is not really that rampant. In other words, South-East Asia is not only full of European but also American naval vessels. Attack South-East Asia, it is like a pearl harbor but not in Hawaii. The USA is still destined to join the war.

1. I clearly said the Soviets successfully halted the Japs. The Ruski-Jap war was just a naval victory of the Japs in a Russian-occupied land in China because bomber planes did not exist and naval ships are very expensive that's why naval wars are controversial to even spark a revolution against the monarchy. Land invasion on the cold lands of Siberia was never won by the Japs.

Also by the way Germany could have won WWII if the Italian high command was not incompetent and if the axis were planning way ahead. If they were stronger a bit perhaps, Japan could actually make Russia’s war with Germany into a 2 front war by joining in. Italy with an better high command could perhaps “Blitzkrieg” into Egypt from Ethiopia and Libya and capture the Suez Canal. Germany could realistically pushed up to the AA line and made peace from there. Italy could probably take over almost total control of Africa. Maybe in the near future Germany could turn the tide in the British channel with more better air superiority and probably use lots of paratroopers to land in Britain. Maybe they could have won that way by ending the war in the collapses of the enemies governments and send them to exile somewhere in Africa.
