The compassionate, hard-working, democratic population of 242 million Dankzigers hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Education, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 49.2%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The strong Dankziger economy, worth 11.2 trillion greens a year, is quite specialized and led by the Gambling industry, with major contributions from Soda Sales, Uranium Mining, and Book Publishing. Crime is a serious problem, probably because of the absence of a police force. Dankzig's national animal is the ganjalope.
