Crackpot scientists imagine slowing down climate change by means of Jurassic Park... no, actually it's Pleistocene Park mammoths. Yeah, right. No magic engineering solution is going to spare us from doing the hard work of reducing the causes of climate change: exploitation, production, construction, heating, transport of goods and materials, travel, consumption. And those poor genetically engineered pseudo-mammoths would probably suffer from all sorts of unforeseen maladies, as extreme breeds do. But modern mammoths as a fantasy are nice. Sigh. Let's keep them a fantasy and do the real work. What's your contribution against climate change?

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has passed away, aged 99.

“We Stormaeners extend our deepest condolences to Her Majesty the Queen, her family, and the entire Commonwealth upon the news of the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

A larger-than-life character, he was an exemplar of public service and family devotion. A veteran of the Second World War, an avid conservationist, and a founder and patron of charitable causes that have changed thousands of lives, he showed an absolute dedication to duty – and to Queen and country – throughout his long and extraordinary life. His legacy is and will be remarkable by any measure.”

— Naomi Stewart-York, Prime Minister of Stormaen

I'm not going to suppress it because we believe in free speech, but I think you owe Storm an apology.

you gay

Someone confused needs chamomile tea and a good night's sleep and resolve to improve manners.
We could always add the LGBT tag and say: Yes we gay! From what I've learned about being an ally, it can sometimes be helpful to show that people of various orientations are welcome. Is this a useful idea or is it superfluous because it goes without saying? Is there some sort of procedure for proposing and discussing a possible new region tag?

Apropos of Gagarin, here's a cute interview with a woman who, as a girl, met Gagarin when he had just returned.
What do you remember most about this space man?
His smile of course. And he had such a kind voice. Granny asked "Where are you from? How did you get here?"
He said: "I came on a ship."
She said: "There's no sea near here. What ship?"
He said: "I came from the sky."
