The Empire of Subundia is a massive, safe nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service, restrictive gun laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, cynical, devout population of 1.322 billion Subundines are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Spirituality, and Defense. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of The Aspidochelone. The average income tax rate is 63.1%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Subundine economy, worth 41.7 trillion Aurichalcs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient black market in Basket Weaving, Uranium Mining, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Trout Farming. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 31,574 Aurichalcs, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.1 times as much as the poorest.

The government is full of rats, the institution of marriage is held sacred and strictly enforced, psychological disorders are a taboo subject, and government-sponsored gallows are being erected by Violetist temples. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Subundia's national animal is the Serpent, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Subundia is ranked 120,302nd in the world and 247th in Horizon for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 676.62 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
