The planet of Polynises is dominated by a large oceanic body of water of which surrounds the planet's sole supercontinent named Polynia by local inhabitants. Conditions on land are harsh due to the constant solar radiation and brutal aridity the continent possessed. Yet, below the surface, life are flourishing deep within the ocean of the planet of which are dominated by local superorganism and truly magnificent coral reef of various colour and sizes. However, to display the abundance of life in the planet, a simple paragraph would not make justice of the planet's biodiversity, and below are the full account of the biodiversity of the planet, which will constantly be expanded upon. And with it, let's start.

Like organs on lifeforms in general, different individual organisms — which are known as 'zooids' — have different functions, ranging from locomotion, food gathering, food digesting, sensory awareness, and reproduction, with each individual zooids having a different function to other zooids, playing a role in the survival of the larger lifeform. And to understand the way of life of such lifeform, we need to understand the life cycle of a stegocaudate from birth to death.

However, as they grow older, their shells — which as mentioned above first are covered in a transparent membrane — becomes more prominent as the membrane fades away and allowing the shell to develop into its distinctive shape od adults. Its zooids becomes more developed as it formed multiple zooids performing different role for the survival of the larger stegocaudate organism.

The end result are a highly unique and unusual lifeform with exposed digestive and reproductive zooida of which are enclosed within a fish-shaped outer shell. The shell of a stegocaudate are additionally extremely light, allowing the stegocaudate to swim freely within the vast ocean of Polynises, in addition to being able to perform hydroacrobatic actions if it were threatened by other predatory lifeform. The European Home Office is happy and proud to announce our second official European Writing Contest! As in our previous edition, the contest is open to participants from other regions too so feel free to send your submission even if you are not in Europe!

The Final Showcase is finally here! Take a look!

page=dispatch/id=1812053

When will it start and when will it finish?
The contest starts on October 2nd. Contestants then have 28 days to submit your work until the deadline on November 15th 24:00 GMT+1. Then, on November 21st unless any major issues or delays occur, we will release a full showcase of all the submissions and announce the various award winners.

What kind of work do we want?
It can be anything: a poem, a short story, etc; you just have to stick to the theme: which is PEACE. In any case, remember that English is highly recommended. Other languages permitted, since they are native languages of at least one judge, are Portuguese and German. Don’t worry if you are not very proficient with English, we won’t take grammar into account for the awards.

How can you participate?
Just send your work to Regnum Italiae, either by telegram on NationStates or by email at regnumitaliae@gmail.com, as a text document within the time frame provided. You can use whichever format you prefer, but we think that either a PDF or Word file, or a Google document link may be more convenient and appropriate. Once the submission time is ended, Regnum Italiae will blind and pass the submissions to the judges for evaluation.

Rules and Requirements
Apart from the theme and language, there are some generals rules to make your work valid for our contest:

  • Keep it PG-13. So that everyone, regardless of age, can read it.

  • Keep it of a reasonable length. Generally speaking, do not exceed 3000 words, as we need to read all the works we receive in a reasonable timespan.

  • Don’t reveal your authorship. To keep the judges as impartial as possible. If you do, your submission will be invalidated.

  • Avoid plagiarism. Obviously, don’t try to copy the work of others.

  • Submit one work only. To be fair to everyone, multiple submissions are not allowed.

Finally, being a resident in Europe or not changes the awards you can win. To be considered a European participant you must either:

  • Have a WA nation in Europe,

  • Have an Order of Europe recognition, or

  • Have an active account on Europe’s Forum.

Judges and Awards
Our super-professional and mega-competent panel of judges is made up of some very well known members of our community:

Our judges will evaluate your submission and select the winners of our various awards such as: Overall Best, Best European Writing, Best Foreign Writing, Most Original Story, Best Character(s), Best Setting, and more!
