The Federation of Schosta is a tiny, socially progressive nation, renowned for its burgeoning cow population. The cynical population of 14 million Schostans are proud of their wide-ranging civil freedoms, and those who aren't tend to be dragged off the streets by men in dark suits and hustled into cars with tinted windows.

The relatively small, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Law & Order, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 10.5%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The Schostan economy, worth 689 billion pesos a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Trout Farming, Retail, and Automobile Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 49,204 pesos, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

Surveillance cameras are banned, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, tourists from around the world come to visit the country's famous rainforests, and the mood of raunchy movies is often ruined by the sound of babies crying. Crime is relatively low, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Schosta's national animal is the cow, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Schosta is ranked 256,913^th in the world and 398^th in Starlight for Most Extensive Public Healthcare, scoring 768.85 on the Theresa-Nightingale Rating.
