I can not for the life of me understand why people use inheritance as a justification for taxing the rich. For millionares about 21% inherited anything at all, with only 3% inheriting more than a million. The remaining 79% are self made millionares. Billionaires is a different story. About 33% of billionaires inherited their wealth entirely. About 36% had their inheritance contribute to their wealth, but 67% are considered entrepreneurs or self-made founders. So even among the ultraweathly not even half of the wealth is inheritance. But the reason I don't understand it is simple, I wouldn't want the government taking the house or money I decide to leave to my future kids. Because imagine you work your entire life so you can give your kid an advantage you never had and hope they don't waste it. And in comes the government and takes it. Now, I understand people not liking nepotism, I hate it myself. But there is a difference between hating nepotism and hating inheritance. I think there should be a tax for inheritance above 25 million dollars, but anything lower I don't want it. That is something to attack nepotism, not to attack inheritance.

As for taxing the rich, I understand why people want to do that, but wouldn't it be a better idea to make all the tax loopholes closed and to make all the tax cuts the rich currently have completely dependant on whether or not they are contributing to the economy?
