The Federation of Eurasian States (The Eurasian Federation)
The Union State Assembly declares, "Unity!"

On September 1st of 2008, the Union State Assembly would begin a final vote on the piece of legislation submitted from the Kazakh Delegation entitled "On the Issue of Forming the Eurasian Federation," and every delegate would shuffle toward the ballot box to cast their vote in what could potentially be the most consequential geopolitical shift in nearly two decades.

The piece of legislation laid out the founding of the Federation in a manner that would maintain (at least initially) the current setup of political autonomy enjoyed by each of the nations of the Union State presently, while vastly expanding and adopting a more cohesive look to the "Intragovernmental Authority." The proposal, championed by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, laid out the power structure of the Federation which will (at least initially) rely upon a rotating-capital system, with Moscow, Astana and Minsk each becoming the host city for the Federation Assembly, Foreign Ministry, and such, every four years. The governments of these respective nations will be expected to construct and maintain proper facilities to this effect.

In addition to this, the following actions would take place:

[-] The Joint-Diplomatic Mission of the Union State shall become the Ministry of External Affairs for the Eurasian Federation
[-] The Joint-Strategic Command of the Union State shall become the Defense Ministry of the Eurasian Federation
[-] The Joint-Development Bank of the Union State shall become the Central Development Bank of the Eurasian Federation
[-] The Russian, Belarusian, Kazakh and Ukrainian Armies shall merge into the Armed Forces of the Eurasian Federation
[-] The Intelligence Services of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine shall merge into the Committee of Federal Security
[-] The Union State Assembly shall be renamed as The Federation Legislative Assembly
[-] The Union State Ruble shall be renamed as The Eastern Ruble
[-] The Flag of the Federation of Eurasian States will be adopted by all member states, and displayed on the Right-Hand side of regional flags.

Alongside the following structural changes:

[-] The Ministry of External Affairs of the Eurasian Federation shall assume prominence, and immediately take control, of all ongoing foreign policy decisions or diplomatic relations currently happening independently of the Joint-Diplomatic Mission, ensuring Unity in Response.
[-] The Federation Legislative Assembly will, as the Union State Assembly has, assume prominence over regional governments in matters of Foreign Policy, Defense and Diplomacy.
[-] The Federation Internal Affairs Bureau will be founded as the executor and facilitator of the legislation provided by the Federation Legislative Assembly, and will immediately work toward phasing out National Passports, Licenses, and other Legal Documents for new, streamlined Federal Identification.

As well as a plethora of other, equally important changes.

After the final votes were cast in the Union State Assembly, and the ballot box was stuffed full of papers handed in by each state representative, citizens of the Union State gathered around televisions and radios to listen and watch as the ballots were counted. Old men and women, those that both miss and despise the Soviet Union, clasp their hands and say their prayers as the numbers rattle off on the screen, as seemingly bored ministers on the television perform a duty that would have any regular citizen faint in the center of the room. Russian President Prokhorov, Belarusian President Lukashenko, Ukrainian President Kuchma, and Kazakh President Nazarbayev stand in the center of the Assembly room floor on national television, chatting and acting as though the proceedings of the ballot have no bearing on them.

The final vote would be called at 13:07 ALMT, with nearly 83% of ballot slips cast In Favor of the proposal.
And with one swift action, the Federation of Eurasian States was recognized by all present, and its constitution ratified, beginning a new, or potentially harkening back to an old, era of World History.

TALIBAN TRAINING

The Taliban have accelerated their training, even more than previous years, with recruits coming from different parts of the Muslim world as smuggled USBs convinced multiple people to join.

The Taliban have reactivated formal military academies in Kabul, Kandahar, and Herat. Along with permanent Soviet-era installations rather than hidden mountain camps like they previously did. Separate facilities existing for various infantry, armor, and artillery doctrines.

Training shifts from hit-and-run tactics to conventional tactics such as combined arms maneuvers, border defense, and crowd control. These recruits would receive structured instruction on operating the aging T-62 tanks, BMPs, and artillery pieces.

Bureaucratized religious education remaining central, fully integrated into the daily military schedule.

Al-Qaeda would be told to help out in training these new recruits in other such tactics, (b)in return they would have continued sanctuary. Other transnational groups would function as military advisers, akin to foreign military missions.

Basic training would begin to highly emphasize anti-aircraft artillery (ZU-23s) and man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) to secure the airspace of the Taliban regime.

Local conscripts and tribal recruits would undergo a standard 6 to 12 week course focused on basic marksmanship, physical conditioning, and basic tactics. A professional ‘cadre’ layer would receive advanced training to serve as officers and permanent staff.

Al-Qaeda’s highly structured camps (sich as Al-Faruq) providess specialized training to the elite recruits. This would include urban warfare, intelligence, counter-intelligence, and communication security.

The 055 Brigade, of Osama bin Laden, would be expanded into a permanent foreign legion-style shock troops.

Revolt at Odnogorodsk, Locals Say "Leave."
The Situation on Santorini Worsens

Russian soldiers present on Santorini would experience a truly grueling reality. The island, which had stood as a Mediterranean paradise for almost a century had become a hell previously unknown to those fortunate enough to have been spared from Grozny. The island's economy had died in the months passed, the resorts had emptied, people fled to mainland Greece and throughout the Aegean, assets were sold to the Russian Government and the island descended into chaos.

An estimated 4,500 Greeks fled Santorini since January of 2008, including the island's wealthiest resort owners who sold at or below cost to Moscow. Athinios, the undisputed capital of the island, was reduced to smoldering remains and tents by the soldiers of the Russian Army in the wake of the initial revolt. Towns such as Oia, Kamari, and Megalochori had been hit hard by precision bombing runs from aircraft launched out of the Monolithos Airfield. The Santorini Grecian Militia was the target of these bombings, and were the reason for the ongoing crisis unfolding across the former paradise, of which over a thousand members have been identified by the Russian Government and labeled as criminals.
Russian Soldiers now engage in conflict with these Guerilla fighters in the mountains and the cities, as the island's economy grinds to an absolute halt. Military convoys now protect transports between towns, and littoral defense ships from the Black Sea have been brought in to beef up shore defenses and to assist with search-and-destroy missions. While the Federation maintains control over all of the island's city centers and towns, the pervasive nature and continuously successful sabotage operations by the SGM has challenged their credibility as the island's overlord, alongside the obvious annoyance and hatred that business owners now harbor for the Russian Military Administration.

"We have never been Russian, and we never will be." Island Economic Representative Stavos Pelikoupos has stated. "The Russians have come here, set things on fire, and killed Greeks. They use our island to bomb Albanians, and they ruin our businesses to buy them at cheap prices. It is time for Russia to leave Santorini, you have no business here. President Prokhorov, take your men and go before more of them die."

Thus far, the Federation has deployed close to 12,000 soldiers to Odnogorodsk (Santorini), which is almost 95% of the pre-occupation population of the island. It is reported that at least five hundred tons of explosives are dropped in the mountains every day, and that well over 1,500 Russian Personnel have died or become seriously wounded as a result of the fighting.
The political situation in the Federation Legislative Assembly is growing ever-more tense over finding a solution to the conflict by the day.

We all know and we all see it, things have gone to hell. Prices are up, taxes are also up and for what? To help the banks stay afloat? They are banks they already have money, why do we need to give them money from this government fund? You know, the PRF isn't doing very well for the first few months of their term, if this continues i won't vote for them next parliamentary election and neither should you. Yes I know that telling people for who they should vote for is illeagle BUT for now the PRF are only making our lives harder and more expensive, and they probably will continue to do it till their term ends. Another thing i don't like from this government is the cutting of spending so the government could fund this little fund of theirs, as I said before and will say now- The banks don't need money, they already have enough money. It seems like the government is just laundering our money and using this as an excuse. Here I said it-the government is laundering our money! Now you may cry and yell "Daniel the Government would neverrr!!!!" And to you I say " the truth is hard to accept my friend", now THINK about it, they rise our prices and taxes, cut our spending so they could give money to banks who already have enough money, this dosent make sense dose it. Ofcourse the government fanboys and fangirls will say " but ever since this crisis started the prices of foreign items are trough the roof" and to you I say that Foreign items were always expensive, I think that the government had artificially inflated the prices of foreign items to justify their money laundering and give money to domestic companies to do domestic bootlegs of the foreign items we don't have. Now let's talk about another thing- the situation with Greece. PIAGGIO COMING IN HOT

In the wake of the Recession, a little known utility car company has been merged with Fiat, following lowering numbers, and was thus deemed unlikely to survive alone.

Piaggio-Fiat, as the new company is called, was merged back in late October, and has since produced with a small subsidy, an economical car, becoming the new 2009 Model, called the Calabrone.

This little car, designed quickly and surprisingly efficiently, made it to preliminary manufacturing by November 15, and a month and some odd days later, a finished design has hit the factories in small numbers.

The design is unique to passenger vehicle, yet is not unique to transit. It is a three wheel vehicle. Or in this care, a three or five wheel.

Designed with a semi-seperate front cabin for the driver over a single wheel, the back compartment is narrow, with either a bench for two and a small storage trunk, or two benches plus a storage trunk, using small wheels, though the engine more more than impressive, using a 218 cc petrol engine, at about 30 km per litre.

With a flat windshield, and a smaller engine cabin at the front, the front cabin turns independently of the back, though the whole thing is enclosed, made of fiberglass and aluminum, while the structure itself is made of an aluminum-steel alloy.

The car itself is hot pink, with the portion on the top of the engine, going back along the windows, in black. This, with pale pale vinyl pink seats in bench style, a black carpet and roof, and a V shaped front, all aim to evoke the older Heritage style of 2000-2007 Fiats.

The three wheel model, holding 3 passengers, is 250 cm long, 130 cm wide, and 160 cm tall, and sold for 5.25 million lira.

Meanwhile, the five wheel model, holding 5 passengers or 3 and a larger storage, is 300 cm long, 130 cm wide, and 160 cm tall, and sold for 6.25 million lira.

Le Cataclysme

With the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the international credit market that had provided short-term funding for the Quebecois banking system faded. It was slow at first, truth be told—for most people in the Republic, the summer of 2008 was normal, boring even. Prices started dropping, and the average citizen saw the collapse of the American economy as a localized tragedy.

Then came the layoffs.

The youths were most affected—the specific demographic unemployment reached as high as 20% as those beneath the age of 25 found themselves unable to find employment. No one could get bridging loans as the banks tightened their regulations like a vice. Nortel's employees were also particularly vulnerable, as the telecommunications giant had been on its last leg since the dot-com bubble burst. It filled from protection againt its creditors near the year's end, robbing the republic of yet another of its giants. Things were manageable, if dire.

And then the Bank of Montreal failed.

It hit the country all of a sudden. No one had seen it coming, except those who had dug their heads into the sand and sang a song of denial. But the evidence had been there, quietly simmering for the perfect storm. And 2008 was such a storm.

Export towns failed overnight as the rates fell by 25%, a direct consequence of the collapsing American market.

The government promised to manage things better, but no one knew what that response would look like and thus pessimism rose.

The Marois government would not survive the incoming elections, this much was certain. But nobody knew what would replace it.

The Final Days of the Ukrainian Civil War
National People's Republic Succeeds

The National People's Republic of Ukraine would report that Viktor Yuschenko had been killed in Zhytomyr after its forces attempted to storm the city. Across Western Ukraine, the AFU would shatter into various command sectors as military officials claimed succession, soon to be absorbed by the rapidly advancing ANPRU anyway. The Federation of Eurasian States would welcome the news of Yuschenko's death, and the prospective end of the most direct fighting of the Ukrainian Civil War with his passing. To this effect, the Federation Legislative Assembly would approve an action by the Ministry of External Affairs to arrange the Kiev Conference of 2008 to which representatives of the Ukrainian National People's Republic, The Republic of Hungary and the Eurasian Federation would attend.

The Conference would take place on November 16th, 2008. The Presidents of Ukraine, Eurasia, and Hungary would shake hands in the Maidan Square before retiring to the Administrative Building with their diplomatic staff. The Conference laid out in plain terms how the territory of the former Republic of Ukraine would be divided amongst the victorious powers of the vicious conflict. The Republic of Hungary would occupy the region of Carpatho-Ruthenia that it had secured during the war, pending a referendum facilitated by Moscow for its formal admittance as a territory of Budapest. The Eastern Republic of Ukraine, a territory of the Eurasian Federation, would absorb the regions of Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kherson, and Southern Kirovohrod. The rightful ownership of the remaining territories would then be recognized by both Eurasia and Hungary as the sovereign territory of the National People's Republic of Ukraine. Given the tumultuous situation, ongoing fighting, and civil unrest in the NPRU, The Ministry of External Affairs of the Federation of Eurasian States would renew its arms procurement agreement with Kiev for an additional seven years.

In a relatively short Special Session of the Federation Legislative Assembly, the terms of the Kiev Conference of 2008 would be accepted, and proper procedure to establish formal offices and diploamtic channels between Moscow and Kiev would begin. The headlines would read "Ukrainian Civil War, Over!" but the reality of the situation remained almost as dismal for the soldiers of the NPRU and the Eurasian Soldiers performing Occupation and Counter-Insurgency Operations in Western Ukraine as it did before the Conference.
