Hellloooo Assemblia! I'm delighted to announce that I am running for Secretary this election. Please feel free to take a look at my campaign dispatch and send over any questions or comments you may have via RMB, Discord or telegram!
| Farbelia for Secretary - June 2025Leading Assemblia's New March .. . Hello TLA! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Farbelia, and I would like to present my campaign for this upcoming election and the subsequent term. For anyone who hasn't seen me around, I originally joined TLA as Garbelia back in November 2020, staying on with that nation until March 2021, during which time I primarily participated in discussion on the RMB. Following that, I moved to our region Forest, where I began to get involved in regional politics, where I have been serving as Statistician for a record 4 years, with two (successful, I hope :p) elected terms as Forest Keeper (their version of Secretary), spanning up to as recently as March of this year. From September last year, I began to get more involved in the Assemblian community, and following the conclusion of my final Forest Keeper term, I rejoined TLA. Since then, I've joined the People's Assembly and been appointed Ambassador to the West Pacific, whilst actively engaging with and discussion our regional government on a regular basis.I believe this background of extensive experience in regional leadership, whilst still having a strong passion for my first ever region, gives me a unique perspective that is simultaneously fresh and experienced in a different way to the many decorated politicians of Assemblia, and I hope this is reflected in the campaign manifesto below :3 Internal Affairs: |
Information The Red Star has proven a massive success in recent times, and I intend to assist the MoI in its continued publication - including more guest articles from other government members and Assemblian civilians on various topics, as a way to increase regional engagement, but no significant changes or overhauls here :p |
Recruitment Recruitment has been one of the most consistently successful departments of government in recent terms, and I intend to allow them to continue to keep along the path of what's working! We've already recovered well from losing TCB's manual recruitment bot, and I eagerly await the Unity Machine rewrite and refinement of manual recruitment features. I would also intend to continue previous secretary Dyl's card gifting policy to the most prolific recruiters, as that has proved excellent motivation over the past few months. |
The Suggestion Box The dual guiding principles of my previous terms as a regional leader have been transparency and a low barrier of entry into regional governance. Fundamentally, a region needs new blood and new ideas entering into its politics to sustain itself, and currently, despite the success of our ministry of recruitment in recent terms, the conversion rate into interacting with government has been lower than is ultimately ideal - not hugely, but noticeably - for example, only 1 member of the previous 2 cabinets was founded less than 3 years ago, whereas I would expect this to be 2 or 3. Although this can be addressed immediately with one or two appointments of newer nations to the cabinet, I would argue institutional change to bridge the gap between government and community is necessary in this regard. To help with this, I would simply like to encourage the use of the Suggestion Box, combined with increased discussion government activity on the RMB. There's no perfect solution to this issue, but I've always found increased transparency helps with bringing through new Assemblians more engaged in our regional politics. |
Foreign Affairs: |
Disentanglement from The Communist BlocIt's no secret that one of the defining events of the Dyl administration has been the unfortunate situation with The Communist Bloc. It's a shame that it had to come to their departure from NSLeft, but it became clear that sustained relations were actively harmful to not only our own foreign affairs presence, but also our own community. I believe it is imperative that we move past their influence in the coming terms, relying more on our existing allies who have proven themselves reliable partners - our comrades in NSLeft, and our stable and long-term partners, such as Forest and Gay. The Dyl cabinet has already begun this process of disentanglement, including the closure of relations with TCB and the closure of consulates with their raider allies Brotherhood of Malice but we ought to finish the job with a thorough re-evaluation of our remaining consulates attached to that raider/imperialist sphere of the game and whether they offer material cultural benefits, rather than the empty words and assurances the Bloc's gameplay allies have brought in the past. |
New Relations As mentioned in the previous segment, I believe we already have several extremely trustworthy partners, who we should appreciate fully and consolidate relations with. That being said, we have just lost our largest and most influential ally in TCB and it is worth pursuing the opportunity to connect with new regions, such as we have already done with The West Pacific. The Dyl administration has alluded, in several statements, to aiming for a neutral ideology in matters of GP and R/D, abstaining from that aspect of the game aside from our continued involvement in The Red Fleet, and this is both something I fully support and agree with, and something I have extensive experience in implementing, maintaining and working with during my two terms as elected leader of Forest. The key, I have found, is to view relations primarily on a cultural basis - it is possible to be friends with a region from either side of the R/D divide, but in doing so we must solely be considering what good they offer to our community and their compatibility with our region, both ideologically with respect to RL politics and socially. We have an opportunity to open a new chapter in Assemblian Foreign Affairs, and I believe we should approach this with caution, but also as the opportunity for positive growth and change that it is. |
Objectives in Foreign AffairsWith sanctions related to our alliance with TCB lifted, we have a unique opportunity to act upon Foreign Affairs goals that were not possible - or were significantly more difficult - previously, such as negotiating the return of Solidarity, or the commendation of an Assemblian for their service to the region. These aims are, however, only possible through cooperation and discussion with the defender powers currently in possession of Solidarity, and voting bloc currently controlling the outcome of WA resolutions. It is important to remember, as we forge this new path, the injustice inflicted upon Assemblia by both Raiders and Defenders, and as such I believe we should therefore be engaging with these bodies precisely as much as we have to or are willing to in order to follow through on these objectives, and nothing more, in order to maintain our commitment to neutrality. |
Community Affairs and Events: |
Gameside I believe that it's important to have at least one on-site event per term - whether that be something along the lines of the joint art contest with our friends in NBB and Forest, or some other new and fascinating invention of the next MoCA, focusing on enabling creativity within the region. This isn't just important to allow our comrades who prefer to stay away from the discord an opportunity to have some fun and participate in the community, but it's also a valuable opportunity for some more interregional cooperation on a larger cultural project. |
Offsite We already have a very strong culture of casual VCs on the regional discord, which is excellent and something I have no desire to change or interrupt. Some scheduled events and games nights could offer a nice opportunity to invite our friends and have some new Assemblians show up for a VC that they know is happening beforehand and can more easily be planned for, so I would aim to have 3 or 4 of these throughout the term. |
Legislation: |
Judiciary Reform It should be clear to anyone that following last term, our existing Court system is not fit for purpose and In-Character offenses, such as (to pick a totally random example) treason, should be separated from Out-of-Character ones, such as (again a totally random example) doxxing and harassment. Whilst I am by no means at all a legislator, we have many talented Assemblians of that ilk, who I would intend to fully support in bringing those reforms to light as is deemed necessary by each branch of Assemblian government. |
Closing Notes: |
A Summary To summarise, a prospective Farbelia term as secretary would include scheduled events both on and off-site, the promotion of extensive judicial reform, an increased focus on transparency and a low barrier to entry for regional government, and sensible yet optimistic Foreign Affairs programs for a post-Bloc world. |
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask me on the RMB, and I will respond in as timely manner as possible. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this platform, and good luck to every candidate in this election. Unity in diversity! ~ Farbelia |
