Homeland League

Platform: The Homeland League, seeing it as our duty to protect the rights and powers of the regions composing the AOR, advocate just that, regional sovereignty. In times in the recent past, the AOR, established as an alliance, not a union, had been gradually expanding its authority over the sovereign governments of its unique and independent member regions. We oppose this, especially the course on which this is merely the first step. That course leads to Federalism, which we fear will warp the AOR from a good, and just association of free regions, based on mutual respect and friendship, into a corrosive and tyrannical superstate which will sign into law the destruction of the identities of tens of unique regions. Thus, the center point of our platform is the prevention of any federalization of the AOR, and the containment of its power over member regions to those absolutely necessary to maintain cooperation and order among member regions, and to foster friendship between said regions. In regards to non-AOR issues, Homeland League advocates social conservatism, and conservatism in general, believing that traditions, social norms, and culture all lead to a generally happier, more stable society. A society in touch with its roots and soul is a society for the better. We also advocate nationalism among regions and in the real world. The AOR should be a free alliance and association of proud regions who respect one another as well as themselves, and seek cooperation and friendship. This is central to our model. We do not want a tyrannical and destructive federation, or a weak and meaningless council that exists for flavor alone. We seek an alliance of regions, firm in friendship, and grounded in respect for the regions themselves, and their compatriots. Of course, this is very different from the isolationist anarchism of what was once the Regionalist Party, as we seek maintenance of close bonds among member regions, cooperation between the AOR as a whole in military and diplomatic affairs when appropriate, and an AOR government that will work to these ends without trampling on regions' freedoms. Additionally, with the topic of parties fresh off the tongue, we absolutely support the prevention of partisan bickering and party politics rising as a dominating factor in AOR politics. If the dream of a free, prosperous, and coordinated AOR is to be achieved, it must have a functional and symbiotic political machine. In fact, while federalism is our greatest enemy, we view partisan polarism as a far more disgusting opponent. Polarism along partisan lines would be a severe detriment to the AOR as a free association, and it would be even more of a threat in a federation.

In essence, the policies and ideology advocated by the Homeland League are as follows:

Regional Sovereignty

Social Conservatism (and conservatism as a whole)

Friendship initiatives among AOR members

Multi-partisan cooperation to achieve virtuous ends

Responsible and transparent government

Representation and pursuit of the interests of member regions

These are our core tenets. We seek an Assembly that is powerful in its limitations, and remarkable for its responsible governance.

Hello citizens of Melayu Archipelago, we are Homeland League, a political party of the AOR, and we want your vote in the coming election. Our party is concerned with adequately representing the interests of all regions within the AOR, and ensuring the government of the Assembly only becomes as large as it is responsible and transparent. We have provided this dispatch so you can read up on our ideas in more detail. And remember, a vote for HL is a vote for a government that will pursue the interests of the regions that make up the Assembly.
Any questions regarding the platform, or the possibility of joining the party as a member, should be directed at Prussian Mittleafrika.

Hello everyone,
I am Green Bay and Wisconsin from The Moonlight Battle Born, which is a member region of the Assembly of Regions. I am also on the House of Delegates.

This petition is for a bill I am hoping to get on the ballot to coincide with the House of Delegates election. The bill is so that all Associate Regions are allowed to have one non-voting member in the Council of Regions. While Associate Regions do not have to follow AoR law, this is why the member wouldn't be able to vote (or run for Council Chairman). Instead, this would give Associate Regions a preview of AoR politics and help them decide whether they would want to join the AoR as a full member or not.

It might also be helpful for the Associate Region Councillor to be able to talk about their region when the Council is debating on whether they should be accepted as a full member.

Your region was probably an Associate Region at some point, and so it would be very helpful for Associate Regions (like yours once was) to be able to have a voice at the table.

If you are interested in signing the petition, please copy and paste the following link into a browser:

Thank you!

This bill has been formally passed by both Houses of AoR and widely supported in both houses.
I am pleased too announce that from now on, every Chancellor term, there will be a way that all regions can come together and get to know one another easier. Unity of all AoR regions will finally be accomplished or made easier of. This bill was made and done by GPP.
Also, kudos to Soracana Islands for being the oldest member of GPP after I founded it. Thank you so much my friend!!

The Regional Unity Celebrations Act is an act that will get all member regions to become more united with one another and for all regions and nations to get to know one another better.

Article 1: Every Chancellor term, a celebration of culture and history of each regions shall take place during the middle of the term, so that regions can have time to prepare.
Article 2: The celebration time period can be anywhere from 1 day to 1 week depending upon the Minister of Interior and/or Chancellor.
Article 3: The celebrations shall be in the form of an Expo where there can be speakers, presentations, displays, etc.
Article 4: The event shall take place on AoR's RMB and on discord for the convenience of all citizens and regions.

This bill highlights the unity that AoR can achieve, but also a chance to learn about different cultures and regions.

This bill was the wonderful idea of Katanga Vristaadt and written by Awell Islands, both proudly representing GPP.

4. Supports a limited mutual defense initiative among member regions.
5. Supports judicial reform and a publication of judicial decisions in all official languages
6. Supports bilingualism in the Assembly of Regions
7. Supports unicameral systems in the Assembly.

We urge you to look at each party and vote based on what you believe is the closet to your personal values. Elections are for what you want, and no government, region, or party can force you one direction or another. On 10 July, 2020 we hope to see a House which reflects, not the will of parties or regions or large groups, but the wants of the Assembly of Regions citizens, and what they feel is best for the organization as a whole moving forward.

Next we have the constitutional amendments which will change the operations of the Assembly of Regions. These amendments will require 50% of the AoR citizens to approve. Please cast your ballot in this election, as every vote on these initiatives matter! Without further delay, here are the proposals on the ballot:

1. The Amendment for Unicameralism in the Assembly:
This amendment would provide a unicameral body to serve as the legislative branch, titled the Council of Representatives. The new Council of Representatives would have one optional seat per region (meaning regions will always be guaranteed one seat in the council, but are not required to fill it if they do not wish to). These seats for each region can either be elected or appointed based on what system of government each region uses. The remaining members of the Council will be elected through the same proportional representation system we have today. The amount of members elected by proportional representation under this amendment may be no less than 17, but may be increased from that number through a super majority vote of the Council.

Supporting Argument: "The amendment would merge the two houses and provide for independent members to be elected to the legislature, it would provide each member region one guaranteed representative in the legislative process, and would provide for regions to provide a voting member only if they wish, and not mandatory. This will cut down on the inactive members regions send to the Assembly due to being forced by the constitution to do so."

Opposition Argument: "Unicameralism removes a second chamber of the parliament who can review laws passed, and therefore opens up more opportunity for flaws in legislation to arise. Further - this system removes the purely regional side of the legislature, and would make the parliament less region based, and reflect the voice of the organization as a whole"

Amendment for Associate Member Representation
This amendment would, as the name suggests, give Associate Members a non-voting voice in the Assembly of Regions parliament. This would allow for better representation for these members, who currently have no voting rights in the Assembly as it stands. These members could only participate in debates, and could not run for speaker, chairman, or vote on legislation however.

Supporting Argument: "This bill would allow associates to become more involved in the decision making process of the Assembly, and would reflect the democratic ideals the Assembly of Regions stands for. This would also allow Associate members the right to give their opinions on legislation that may effect their relationship with the Assembly of Regions as a whole."

Opposition Argument: "This bill would still not allow for associate members to vote on legislation that effects them, and simply puts a band-aid on a larger problem that exists in the Assembly: the violation of the right to vote for regions who are not full members. This amendment opens the door for the Assembly to put in place a minor solution, and ignore the bigger issue."

Amendment for Unified Term Lengths
This amendment would set the term lengths of all elected officials in the Assembly of Regions to three months total. Currently the House of Delegates is elected every 2 months, the Council of Regions every 3 months, and the Chancellor every 4 months. The amendment seeks to compress all these offices into one election date: the 10th day of every 3rd month.

Supporting Argument: "Currently the election process for the Assembly is overburdening, with regions having to hold an election every month for the organization, on top of elections for their own regional governments. We seek to have one single election for all offices every three months to eliminate the burden of electoral stress on all members of the Assembly."

Opposition Argument: "If we compress these elections into three month periods, we would eliminate the valuable midterm election for the Chancellor, so they can see their performance as the voters either vote for or against their party in the polls. The existence of a midterm election is important for the good functioning of a democracy."

Here is your voter guide! Please cast an informed vote on 10 July, 2020.

Vote No on Amendment 1: AoR Amendment for Unicameralism in the Assembly

On July 10th, the Citizens of the AoR will make a huge choice when it comes to the way our parliament is elected. The major change coming would be to combine both parts of Parliament, one side called the House of Delegates and the other side called the Council of Regions into one legislative body called the Council of Representatives. It might sound good as all regions will be represented in one body and things will get done faster as legislation would only have to go through one body instead of two. But at the same time, this would have a negative effect on all of our regions as a whole. If the Amendment for Unicameralism passes, this would hinder the power of smaller regions and give more power to political parties.

The Assembly of Regions is made up of the House of Delegates and the Council or Regions. The House of Delegates is suppose to represent the feeling of the region and is run mostly by political parties. The Council of Regions are members elected or appointed by their respective regions. The Council is a place where every region is represented equally. Therefore no larger region can run over the other as easily. It is a system based on compensation. Different regions have different needs and the Council of Regions gives a place where their problems can be heard a lot better then in the House of Delegates. If this amendment passes, smaller region's power in the Assembly of Regions will be significantly reduced as each region would be reduced to one vote in this much larger body.

At the same time, this would give political parties more say over what the Assembly of Regions does in everyday activities. It would make our Supreme Court more partisan based on who is in power in this one body. Overall, this may push away smaller regions from joining the AoR and if bigger regions join, they could control the way this body looks in the end as if they all voted for one party, that would already give them 30% of the seats.

Overall, this would threaten regional sovereignty as we know it as smaller regions would not have a chance to speak up as their votes would be completely ignored by this one body of the legislature. Which means that there is no say for smaller regions anymore, possibly pushing them away for the AoR for good.

The Council of Regions is there to check the power of the Majority and to make sure legislation does not run over the rights of their home regions. Lets not ruin it. We need to make sure we continue to grow and there are better ways to put Independent members in the house, this is just not the way to do it.

This is why I am asking you to please Vote no on Amendment 1. Please pass this letter on to every region in the AoR and spread the message.

Abstimmung Nr.

Stem nee over amendement 1.
