Hello The Sands!
I'm delighted our embassies have opened. You're welcome to join us Where the Wild Things Are, a space where you can relax and enjoy the entertainments.
Take part in our traditional Inari Sumo matches (
Two wrestling kitsune form the logo of Inari Sumo. These shape-shifting foxes are the spirit messengers of Shinto kami (spirit) Inari. Sumo and it's ceremonies have roots in the Shinto religion. Before a match, the dohyo (ring) is ritually purified with salt. The first wrestler to touch the ground with anything other than the soles of their feet, or to go out the dohyo, loses the match. Contests last a few seconds, or in rare cases take a minute or more. Sumo wrestlers are classified in a banzuke (ranking hierarchy). Like the kami it is named for, Inari Sumo is not restricted to a particular gender.
Core Rules - How to Fight
The fight rules are simple. Each wrestler 
rolls two dice (take the first numbers you see on the linked page) and adds their banzuke rank (see table below - everyone starts at 2). The highest score wins.
If the scores tie, the wrestler with the lowest banzuke rank wins.
If the scores tie, and both wrestlers have the same rank, the second wrestler rolls the dice again.
How to Post
At the end of their turn, a previous player will have already posted a challenge on the RMB. The challenge will say something like
*scatters salt around the dohyo*
HA! I am the great Jonidan Totoro. None can defeat me! (Dice=4, Rank=3, Total=7)
This is who you will fight first. Find the post, and quote it, so we know who is fighting who.
In your post, include your banzuke rank, dice roll and total score. You have to make it clear who wins, and if anyone gets promoted or demoted (see below).
You then MUST STRAIGHT AWAY lay down a fresh challenge so as to keep the game going.
You could post in the style of a sports commentary. So your whole post might look like this:
...and Sandanme Mei will surely get demoted to Jonidan for this miserable performance! Bumped out the ring within five seconds! (Dice=2, Rank=4, Total=6)
Totoro wins the bout, and is promoted to Sandanme.
Down but not out, newly ranked Jonidan Mei has instructed the dohyo to be purified for another fight. She's looking ready to take on the world! (Dice=9, Rank=3, Total=12).
For some useful phrases, Almonaster recommends "a handy resource at http://www.chijanofuji.com/Kimarite.html giving all the ways to win."

Promotion / Demotion
If you win the match, and your unadjusted dice roll is higher than your banzuke score, you get promoted up a rank for your next match.
If you lose the match, and your unadjusted dice roll is below your banzuke score, you get demoted down a rank for your next match. If your rank is Yokozuna (the highest possible) then you have to retire gracefully from Sumo instead of get demoted.
Banzuke
Sumo wrestlers are classified in a banzuke (ranking hierarchy). Every new wrestler begins in the lowest banzuke, Jonokuchi.
From Juryo, a wrestler can be promoted to Makuuchi. Only Makuuchi may fight other Makuuchi. All other ranks can fight any other rank.

The achievements of these benchmark-setters are duly recorded in letters, so that in future years we can recall their fears, their blood, sweat and tears, that brought out our awful jeers and awe-filled cheers.

Following a public consultation about sports promotion, the town of Roi became home to a new shiro styled Sumo stadium. In the space of a week, Roi-jo was built from flatpack by untrained Roi-tonians. Here, sumo wrestlers face each other in the dohyo (ring), with the aim of rising up the banzuke ranks.
