Return home

It was the tail end of 2009 when the Moqun Division began its return from Torimia and back to their home. Many of them had managed to survive the whole four and a half years, but many also did not, and their funerary urns filled silent compartments of the transport ships carrying them. Nevertheless, the soldiers would toast to their comrades, to their families and to the honour they won, for no dze fell without putting up a fight, none broke rank and none became craven. Duty and honour were what motivated them to go and it is what they were rewarded with, the families of the fallen awarded stipends, many of these soldiers also being richly condecorated, in life or in death, and pensions would be awarded to those families as compensation.

The dze did not mind strife in war, for it is a living memory in many of their households, but it was also accepted that the grief from it would be granted, so the government made sure to respect their mourning. Stone totems would be built in their image, their souls now with the stars, tasking spirits to protect their families in their stead.

With the returning troops also came an odd sight, for many soldiers brought to their tribes...tori children. Ever since their arrival at Zayantal, many troops had seen the destruction left by the savagely fought conflict and they saw many a young soul wandering about, without family, without help and without love, all taken away by either side, to which they cared not. These orphans would oft find in these tall, stoic and cold soldiers an inner soul of empathy, of company and of love; they were unforgiving warriors, yes, but in them was the foundational belief of tenderness from suffering, for in the words of Tsotʻaan Xanaaq̇ut, enshrined upon the Teachings of Worth, is the following: "To be gentle to oneself, and others, is to have gone through the greatest of strifes".

Many of these soldiers also came with little urns, made of a different clay and ornated in foreign motiffs, but yet carrying both Tori and Dzeii names; it was the urns of the children who did not make it, for in many assaults by the Karzyn did they happen upon these kids, as well as refugees or civilians, and would shoot them without care, treating them as they would treat the dze. Thousands of these "Children of the Air" were now in the lands of the Confederation, as well as a few hundred migrants from the borderlands; many of these having being adopted by the brothers and comrades of those who had initially found them, but did not survive the conflict. They were more than just lives saved, they were a testament to the mindset of those who rescued them, and the light at the end of the cruel road of war.

Games under the moonlight

The Eclipse Games of 2009 were, in a single word, Fun. Athletes from eleven nations and all corners of the world would attend the event, demonstrating their individual skills and valour, representing their host nations with great dignity and grace in the event's ten sports. Bringing great prestige to the nation, who wasn't even in the top five for most medals earned, as many of their athletes would sadly place fourth in many occassions, the events proved to the Dze that, afterall, some cooperation with nations abroad was not all that bad.

Medal Table
Candain: 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze. 4 Total
Amberleaf: 2 Gold, 1 Silver. 3 Total
Brennus: 2 Gold, 1 Bronze. 3 Total
The Outer Union Scouting Squadron: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 2 Bronze. 4 Total
Otyken: 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze. 3 Total
Dze Tribes: 1 Gold, 1 Bronze. 2 Total
Midribbonia: 1 Gold. 1 Total
Greater Confederation of Switzerland: 3 Silver, 2 Bronze. 5 Total
The Distanic Confederacy: 2 Silver, 1 Bronze. 3 Total
Kemonomica (Honalulu): 1 Silver. 1 Total
Aquitinia: 1 Bronze. 1 Total

By far the biggest winners were Candain, Amberleaf and Brennus, each winning gold twice, whilst the nation of Schweiz would win the most medals overall, five, and every nation had, at least, one medal, so no country would go home empty handed. The host nation itself found its match in the winter sports, contending fiercely with Candain, Schweiz and Midribbonia in those sports, as well in Equestrian sports, where the traditional and rigid Dze fell short of what the judges deemed to be good, however winning in a twist of events during Softball, managing to score a bronze medal against all odds after their terrible defeat in the first match. Perhaps the most televised event was the Softball match between the nations of Otyken and Brennus in the Group Stage, with the Brennian team coming on top with a 6-1 victory, and eventually winning the gold medal in the category, in where the fans from both nations would erupt into roars of joy, tense silences and bellowing complaint to the referees.

Dueling was the sport where all nations partook in, also being the one that recieved the most press, with fighters from around the world showing off their skills with various weapons, with the three great winners of the medal table demonstrating itself to have the fiercest fighters, narrowly beating the nations of Dzeia and Aquitinia for such a title. Overall, a very engaging set of events, heralding the Dze as one of the world's centres of sport and allowing it to increase its prestige and standing with many nations from different sides, all the while giving a chance for much of the world to engage itself in worldwide spectacle like never before.

I had a lot of fun hosting the event and getting y'all's reactions in the dice rolls. If anybody wants to know in which sports they won what (wink, wink; Bean and Kats), send me a telegram or discord message :D

¿What is honour?

For forty-nine years the Dze pledged an oath to the Radiant Entente, for almost five decades they held steadfast and in good heart, helping their allies in their struggles and cheering their rise. It would, however, be for naught, and it would be the first taste of the Confederation of how relations worked outside their land, for it was not an eternal agreement.

In many a hall in the capital of Łʻysxḿoˮniq did the Tsotʻaan, his ministers and council, discuss what would be of the alliance after the year of 2004, sometimes even being brought in Great Meetings. The alliance had stagnated, despite bringing new members, as one of its founding nations, the republic of Brennus, left the alliance a few years after, and many members within the alliance, tragically including many of those recently brought in, would fight in their interests, participating in opposing sides in proxy conflicts and not committing to the alliance's core belief of helping eachother out in times of strife, as proven by the Outer Union's lack of aid given to it by many a member state after its devastating civil war.

In the end after many years of this debate, with much inner shame and dishonour, the Dze would initiate a vote to dissolve the alliance in a military capacity, passing overwhelmingly in an undisclosed result. Had it not been for the fact the Confederation had been forced throughout the newly arising century to take up the leading role within the bloc, despite the immense economic difficulties the nation had in doing so, then perhaps it would've not been like this, but, alas, they were, once more, alone in the world, relying on individual pacts to fend off foreign pressure.

After such an event, the confederation would begin the decade of the 2010's with a grim outlook, having realized the truth of global politics being not what they envisioned, yet would not refrain from other potential alliances, as they were in the clear as to what their situation would now be. A strange future awaited the Dze, and they were, for the first time, unsure of how it would end up being.

Baltocarpathia wrote:RP Politics at it’s finest

Allessia may be a fascist state, but ties both economic and militarily go back for decades. President Lorenzo was speaking with his council in secret along with a delegation from Allessia where the following proposal was presented. Unfortunately from a legal standpoint, Allessia could not have a military base on our territory per the treaty. However our scheming lawyers discovered an out, the personnel already here could stay on extended visas, having lowered immigration requirements for Allessian’s already, this would not raise any eyebrows. They could live and work in Baltocarpathia in the region around the fort and due to our lax weapon laws, they could even keep their equipment. Ofcourse in the meantime, Fort Tyrconnell would be completed as a Baltocarpathian base with a minimal staff of security personnel being hired to defend and maintain the fort but no large forces would be deployed to the base. Any equipment deemed illegal for civilian use would be kept inside the facility and the commanding officer over the base would be paid off to turn a blind eye to this

RP: Holes within Loopholes (Secret to all except the Baltocarpathian Leadership)

After further review of the PB's Article 4 the Allessian Justice Ministry's lawyers found significant loopholes to exploit which they would present to President Lorenzo. In the plan, they pointed out that Article 4 stipulated was no foreign military presence or bases were permitted within the territory. Their solution to this was simple: Fort Tyrconnell would operate as a Batlocarpathian base but could be manned by the Allessian military as long as they did not technically own the base. If further revisions were made to Article 4 to try and encompass this, then the Allessian soldiers and their equipment could be rebranded as "civilian employees" of the Emperor as technically speaking the soldiers and their military equipment were all the personal property of the Emperor and were therefore outside the jurisdiction of Amberleaf or any further revisions to PB's Article 4. The Allessian Ambassador to Baltocarpathia would urge President Lorenzo to allow for the continued construction and manning of Fort Tyrconnell by the Allessians under the guise of it being a Baltocarpathian base for the good of "past and future Allessian-Baltocarpathian cooperation, and for the sake of Baltocarpathian security".

RP: SUCCESS IN THE GAMES!

As the results of the games started to come out, Many looked and hoped some good would come as the nation looked and seemed a little confident with them finally sending members to ALL the sports.

Final Results: 1 Gold (Polo), 1 Silver (Ski Mountaineering, 15km), and 2 Bronze (Alpine Combined Skiing and Dancing) = 4 Total Medals.

Biggest shock: Polo Team, In an unexpected way- the Polo Team went UNDEFEATED and went a game with a CLEAN SHEET (9-0 against Amberleaf) in their quest for glory... and let the Champagne celebration commence!

Biggest Impressive Performance: Dancing, The Union Dancing team was pretty mixed as many where having mixed feelings- However when they got Bronze for their effort this surprised everyone and left them all impressed.

Biggest Improvement: Equestrian Vaulting, Considering that this was quite a very rare sport that the nation plays? This was Improvement in their eyes, 6th isn't bad but Illik Durajno did want more

Biggest Disappointment: Marksmanship, Amina Wiseman was deeply disappointed by the results as she decided that she was going to do private training for this occasion. A Silver Medal recipient to a near dead last saw that she was getting worse... Despite her currently being a Marksman Champion.

Biggest Blow: Dual Wielding Duel, Alexander Romero was crushed once again and decided to decline future invitations as he didn't comment much.

RP: Deathblow

Many flags where in the half post as the flag of the alliance that once stood at last have been disbanded in a more of a whimper and already a terrible outlook. The alliance the Union was... Odd run as while they support the Alliance they too agreed that in overall it really... Lacked the needed support. Which was surprised the Lack of Aid coming in to the nation was A reason of Dissolving, as many looked to blame others.

This was indeed a disappointing end, Yet now? The doors of Neutrality and Isolationism is open, So is another alliance that could convince the nation, Even the development a new ALLIANCE was open. The road while ending, opened doors to now three different paths with three different outlooks to look forward- Even just building friendships and enduring allies or make large economic profits...

However, For one simple day... It was indeed a day of mourning for the lost of an ally.

RP: Empire Passes Minutemen Act

Under the leadership of the new Emperor and his Prime Minister, the Minutemen Act was just Passed. This new law authorizes all persons to keep weapons in their own homes, so that if invaded, citizens could come to the Empire's defense "at a minute's notice" until the elite armed forces can arrive. This law also authorizes the creation of militias. This law also includes a provision to enlist Minutemen into the military officially should a war break out.

In Democracy’s Name
Federal Vikan Lawyers had been reviewing the Phoenix Blossom Charter as it had been quoted by Amberleaf to remove Vikan presence from Baltocarpathia. With Amberleaf’s most recent attempt at rejection of Vikan support for Baltocarpathia’s independance, Rykensvik’s government has in something of an uproar as a foreign power appears to forcing itself onto Rykensvik’s diplomacy. While discussions between congress, the presidency and the Vikan Legal system were ongoing, construction of “Malevalon Creek Combined Arms Base” continued and was now less than six months from completion.

Conversations within the chambers of government also discussed Amberleaf’s proposal to buyout the base to minimize Rykensvik’s financial damages from the project. However, Military High Command was also present at these daily discussions and continuously fought back against the idea of selling Vikan construction and firebase layouts to a foreign power, especially one that Rykensvik was unfamiliar with.

When the Vikan Legal system finally finished combing through the PB charter, it came to the conclusion that it may not need to dispense with the base nor partake in the Phoenix Blossom faction. Rykensvik sought to protect democracy as itself is also a bastion of liberty. It’s reasoning behind the construction of the “Malevalon Creek Combined Arms Base” is to ensure the longevity of Baltocarpathian Democracy.

Per the Phoenix Blossom Charter Article IV, section 3: Participants may not host military bases or similar from foreign nations which do not subscribe to Articles Two, Three, and Four.

Article II of the charter states: Participants are prohibited from taking acts of aggression against other participants, or instigating operations in any form damaging the nation.
Article III of the charter states: Participants seek to uphold and promote the values of democracy and sapient rights, within their own system and abroad.
Article IV of the charter states: Participants must maintain the capacity to ensure stability and security within their own borders to prevent issues such as civil unrest, government takeover, or state collapse.
Participants must dedicate at least 2% of their GDP to military spending, and maintain preparedness against outside hostilities.

Rykensvik currently complies with all the requirements of Section III of Article IV, without membership within the Phoenix Blossom Faction. Rykensvik maintains a constant 5-10% military budget, depending on the needs and demands of that fiscal year. Rykensvik hereby refuses the sale of Malevalon Creek and will expedite its completion to ensure Baltocarpathia remains free of foreign oppression and meddling by foreign powers. Rykensvik Hereby announces it’s support and pledge to Baltocarpathia’s independence.

Rykensvik offers to purchase Allessia’s firebase in Baltocarpathia and is willing to work with the Emperor and his military high command to ensure safe, compliant, and effective use of the site in the defense of liberty.

RP: PRECIOUS METALS AND FUEL

Backdoor meetings took place with the nation of Greater Avaria, a southern Ardentian nation, possessing abundant resources. Another essential trade deal was struck, granting another source of energy imports for the Great Confederacy. However, there was another important raw material that was both valuable and highly strategic: rare earth elements. These two sought-after products, along with more automobile imports and automobile sales firm branches, made Avaria another one of the GCS’ major trading partners; these new trade agreements accounted for a total of another 330 billion USD (292 billion CHF).

As agreed upon by both official delegations, Swiss and Avarian company branches were to be set up inside their borders to operate following each other's policies and regulations. Professional low-end and high-end Swiss services were also granted access to the Avarians. Financial services, construction services, architectural services, structural engineering services, civil engineering services, other engineering services, IT services, and many others were among the variety of quality industrial assistance for foreign nations to utilize. The companies that established their branches and businesses in Avaria, were THE CETI AVAR BRANCH, THE AKRIS AVAR BRANCH, THE PATEK PHILIPPE AVAR BRANCH, THE AUDEMARS PIGUET AVAR BRANCH, AND THE ROLEX AVAR BRANCH. Another extension to the south was made, fostering renewed friendly relations.
