The Republic of Amabilis is a titanic, cultured nation, ruled by Pavel Rutkovsky with an even hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, ritual sacrifices, and compulsory vegetarianism. The hard-nosed, hard-working, humorless, devout population of 14.083 billion Amabilisians are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The large, corrupt, moralistic government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Law & Order, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Tondo. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 91.3%.

The frighteningly efficient Amabilisian economy, worth a remarkable 4,013 trillion Pesos a year, is fairly diversified and mostly comprised of black market activity, especially in Uranium Mining, Woodchip Exports, Retail, and Information Technology. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is an amazing 284,959 Pesos, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 980,985 per year while the poor average 60,646, a ratio of 16.2 to 1.

The new Eagle Supremacy Party is faring well in the polls, businesses often fire workers in favour of cheaper automatic systems, the government is ignoring the latest terrorist atrocities in New Tondo for fear of causing a fuss, and Pavel Rutkovsky is refusing to make decisions until the Moon is out of Capricorn. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Amabilis's national animal is the Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Nashrelig.

Amabilis is ranked 21,269th in the world and 464th in The East Pacific for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 3,133.67 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
